After a long trip we arrived at our cabin in Trysil at 21.45 last night. It has been a pleasure meeting all the children. We had lunch at Ikea at Gøteborg and dinner at McDonalds at Oslo.

Today we'll start the skiing - after a solid breakfast. We'll keep you updated daily at this blog.

Сьогодні понеділок й наш перший день катання!

Ранок почався о 7:30 ранку свіжоспеченими булочками й розкішним катанням. 

Вся група приміряла лижі й лижні ботінки й почали тренування прямо перед будиночком.

Далі ми перейшли на дитячий майданчик, де вчилися робити перші спуски,  зупинятися, повертати. 

Після чого ми були готові до трохи більших схилів.

О 12:00 ми зустрілися на  обід, трошки відпочили, а потім знов продовжили катання на лижах. 

Всі діти навчились робити спуски на різних трасах для початківців.

Ніхто не здається і встає кожного разу, коли падає :)

Ми дуже вражені!

Біля 15:00 ми повернулися додому в будиночок з трошки втомленими ногами, перекусили свіжий пиріг, пограли в сніжки, збирали лєго, малювали. 

На вечерю подавали смачні домашні бургери. 

А далі були вечірні розваги з конкурсами та нашою табірною піснею, яка розповідає про все, що ми прожили за день.

Після цього всі діти були готові кинутися в ліжко і мріяти про нові лижні пригоди завтра.

Og så lige på dansk også:

SÅ kom vi endelig på ski. 

Vi stod op til nybagte boller og overdådigt morgenmadsbuffet. 

Derefter skulle vi alle prøve ski og støvler, og fik øvet os foran hytten. 

Hele formiddagen øvede vi os på børnebakken, og lærte at bremse og dreje. Derefter var vi klar til de lidt større bakker. 

Til frokost mødtes vi i varmestuen og spiste dejlig frokost fra køkkenet, og SÅ var vi klar igen til mere ski. Eftermiddagen blev brugt rundt på forskellige bakker, og alle børn er virkelig blevet seje. De giver ikke op, og rejser sig hver gang de er faldet. Vi er meget imponerede. 

Da vi kom hjem i hytten med ømme fødder, var der friskbagt kage og hygge med spil og tegneting. 

Til aftensmad blev der serveret lækre hjemmelavede burgere. Og derefter var der aftenhygge med skøre konkurrencer og vores lejrsang, der handler om alt det vi har oplevet. 

Derefter var alle børn klar til at hoppe i seng, og drømme om flere skieventyr i morgen.

Today is Monday and our first day of skiing!

The morning began at 7:30 with freshly baked rolls and wonderful skiing. 

The whole group tried on skis and ski boots and started training right in front of the cabin.

Then we moved on to the children's area, where we learned to make our first descents,  to stop and to turn. 

After that we were ready for slightly bigger slopes.

At 12:00 we met for  lunch, rested a little, and then carried on skiing again. 

All the children learned to ski down various beginner runs.

Nobody gives up, and everyone gets back up every time they fall :)

We're very impressed!

Around 15:00 we came back home to the cabin with slightly tired legs, had a snack of fresh cake, played snowball fights, built Lego and drew. 

For dinner we were served delicious homemade burgers. 

And then came the evening entertainment with contests and our camp song, which tells of everything we've experienced during the day.

After that all the children were ready to jump into bed and dream of new skiing adventures tomorrow.

And now the Danish version too:

So we finally got out on skis. 

We woke up to freshly baked rolls and a lavish breakfast buffet. 

Then we all got to try on skis and boots, and practised in front of the cabin. 

All morning we practised on the children's slope and learned to brake and turn. Then we were ready for the slightly bigger slopes. 

For lunch we met in the warming hut and enjoyed a lovely lunch from the kitchen, and THEN we were ready again for more skiing. The afternoon was spent on different slopes, and all the children have really become tough little skiers. They don't give up, and get back up every time they fall. We're very impressed.

When we got back to the cabin with sore feet, there was freshly baked cake and cosy time with games and drawing things. 

For dinner delicious homemade burgers were served. And then there was a cosy evening with silly contests and our camp song, which is about everything we've experienced. 

After that all the children were ready to jump into bed and dream of more skiing adventures tomorrow.

День 2
Вівторок

Сьогодні наш другий день катання на лижах, який почався зі смачного сніданку (булочки, яєчня, сосиски, бекон, йогурт та мюслі)

Після зарядки біля будиночку ми прогулялися до зупинки  шатл - бусу та доїхали до  іншої гірськолижної зони курорту, де багато різних майданчиків та трас.

Весь ранок тренувалися у групах по декілька учнів та 2 дорослих. 

На обід ми зустрілися на свіжому повітрі о 12:00, тому що погода була чудовою. 

У другій половині дня кожен міг обрати, де хоче покататися на лижах. Були 2 групи, які катали по довгим схилам, була команда, яка хотіла випробувати швидкість, і хтось, хто залишився в дитячій зоні та тренував невеликі стрибки на лижах.

Вдома по приїзду працювали сауни, які у нас в будинку, й діти разом з дорослими валялися в снігу.

У нашій вітальні грали в ігри і писали листи. У нас є поштова скринька, куди можна надсилати листи один одному, і вона активно використовується.

На вечерю нам подали спагетті болоньєзе, а потім знову настав час грати, писати листи, співати пісні.

Також ввечері розповідали кумедні історії 

 дня та заспівали сьогоднішній новий куплет нашої табірної пісні українською мовою.

Ми всі добре проводимо час і насолоджуємося всіма враженнями, які маємо разом.

Blog tirsdag

I dag stod vi op til endnu en dag på ski, og med æg og bacon til morgenmad.

Vi tog bussen over til et andet skiområde i dag, hvor der var gode udfordringer for alle. Hele formiddagen blev der øvet i vores egen skiskole. Til frokost mødtes vi udenfor, for vejret var dejligt mildt. Der bliver spist helt utrolig mange rugbrødsmadder, når vi har været i gang hele formiddagen.

Om eftermiddagen måtte alle selv være med til at vælge hvor de gerne ville ud og køre på ski. Der var både ture langt op på bjerget, der var et hold der var ude og køre hurtigt og nogen der blev i børneområdet og øvede på små skihop. 

Hjemme i hytten var der gang i saunaerne vi har i hytten, og de seje børn og voksne var ude og rulle sig i sneen.

I vores stue blev der spillet spil og skrevet breve. Vi har en postkasse hvor man kan sende breve til hinanden, og den bliver flittigt brugt.

Til aftensmad fik vi serveret spaghetti bolognese og derefter var der igen tid til leg. Spil og brevskrivning.

Til aftenunderholdning blev der fortalt sjove historier fra dagen, og dagens nye vers til vores lejrsang blev sunget på ukrainsk.

Vi har det alle godt og nyder alle de gode oplevelser vi får sammen.

Day 2
Tuesday

Today is our second day of skiing, which began with a delicious breakfast (rolls, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, yoghurt and muesli)

After a warm-up by the cabin we walked to the  shuttle-bus stop and rode over to  another ski area of the resort, where there are lots of different areas and runs.

All morning we trained in groups of a few pupils and 2 adults. 

For lunch we met outdoors at 12:00, because the weather was wonderful. 

In the afternoon everyone could choose where they wanted to ski. There were 2 groups skiing the long slopes, there was a team who wanted to test their speed, and some who stayed in the children's area and practised small ski jumps.

Back home the saunas we have in the cabin were going, and the children and the adults rolled around in the snow together.

In our living room we played games and wrote letters. We have a postbox where you can send letters to one another, and it's being used a lot.

For dinner we were served spaghetti bolognese, and then it was time again to play, write letters and sing songs.

In the evening we also told funny stories 

 from the day and sang today's new verse of our camp song in Ukrainian.

We're all having a good time and enjoying all the experiences we share together.

Blog Tuesday

Today we woke up to another day of skiing, with eggs and bacon for breakfast.

Today we took the bus over to a different ski area, where there were good challenges for everyone. All morning we practised in our own little ski school. For lunch we met outdoors, because the weather was lovely and mild. An incredible number of rye-bread sandwiches get eaten once we've been at it all morning.

In the afternoon everyone got to help choose where they wanted to go skiing. There were trips high up the mountain, there was a team out skiing fast and some who stayed in the children's area practising small ski jumps. 

Back at the cabin the saunas we have were going, and the tough children and adults were out rolling around in the snow.

In our living room games were played and letters written. We have a postbox where you can send letters to one another, and it's being used diligently.

For dinner we were served spaghetti bolognese and then there was time again to play. Games and letter-writing.

For the evening entertainment funny stories from the day were told, and the day's new verse of our camp song was sung in Ukrainian.

We're all doing well and enjoying all the good experiences we're having together.

Vi beklager at onsdagens blog er blevet lidt forsinket - vi har travlt med en masse gode ting. Men nu er den her!

Vi kan fortælle at vi har haft en dejlig dag. Solen skinnede og alle fik kørt en masse ski. Om aftenen kunne vi også køre ski - og det var der mange børn der gerne ville.

Alle børn er blevet gode til at køre på ski og kan nu selv tage skilifterne og køre i skoven og på de lidt stejlere bakker. Vi havde grupper der kørte på en pukkelpiste, en rød piste og i skoven. Det er en fornøjelse at se hvordan børnene er gået fra intet at kunne, til at køre sikkert og flot på selv stejle pister.

Lars, køkkenchefen, lavede kylling til os med kartoffelbåde - mums!

We're sorry that Wednesday's blog is a little late - we've been busy with lots of good things. But here it is now!

We can tell you we've had a lovely day. The sun was shining and everyone got in plenty of skiing. In the evening we could ski too - and lots of the children were keen to.

All the children have become good skiers and can now take the ski lifts on their own and ski in the forest and on the slightly steeper slopes. We had groups skiing a mogul run, a red run and in the forest. It's a joy to see how the children have gone from being able to do nothing to skiing safely and beautifully even on steep pistes.

Lars, the head chef, made us chicken with potato wedges - yum!

Сьогодні ми прокинулися й день обіцяв бути сонячним!

Знов поснідали яйцями, беконом і сосисками, а також свіжоспеченими булочками.

Потім ми пішли кататися й більшість дітей вже може проїхати на лижах через весь курорт й не їхати автобусом. 

Ми пообідали на вулиці о 12 й насолоджувалися сонцем, а потім знову вирушили назустріч пригодам на гірськолижному спуску. 

Зараз усі діти дуже, дуже добре катаються на лижах і можуть проїхати майже всю гору. 

Крім того, що вони добре катаються на лижах, вони також дуже добре допомагають один одному, і це так приємно бачити.

Коли ми повернулися додому, ми влаштували вечірку надворі з гарячим какао, хокейними іграми, музикою та вогнищем. Це були приємний відпочинок після катання.

Потім відбулася святкова вечеря з виступами дорослих і дітей. Один із дітей виголосив справді зворушливу промову про те, що табір був місцем, вільним від повсякденного життя та безпечним місцем у всіх відношеннях. Це вразило всю команду.

Потім дискотека відкрилася як данською, так і українською музикою, крутими танцями та класним настроєм.

Заспівавши на добраніч, усі щасливі пішли спати.

Завтра останній день табору. Є багато дітей, які мають особливі побажання щодо чого вони хотіли б досягти на лижних схилах, перш ніж ми поїдемо додому.

Ми з нетерпінням чекаємо поділитися останнім днем. Вони чудові діти, і ми насолоджуємося часом з ними всіма.

Torsdag

I dag vågnede vi til endnu en dag med høj sol og godt humør. Morgenmaden var igen i dag med æg, bacon og pølser, samt friskbagte boller.

Derefter gik turen mod skibakkerne, og de fleste kørte hen over bjerget.

Vi spiste frokost i høj sol, og derefter tog vi ud på eventyr på skibakken igen. Alle børnene er efterhånden virkelig virkelig seje på ski, og kan køre nærmest over hele bjerget. Udover at være gode på ski er de også virkelig gode til at hjælpe hinanden, og det er så dejligt at se.

Da vi kom hjem holdt vi ski-fest udenfor, med varm kakao, hockeyspil, musik og bål. Det var nogen hyggelige timer.

Derefter var der festmiddag med taler fra både voksne og børn. En af børnene holdte en virkelig rørende tale om hvordan lejren havde været et frirum fra hverdagen og et trygt sted at være på alle måder. Det gjorde stort indtryk.

Derefter åbnede diskoteket med både dansk og ukrainsk musik, seje dansemoves og højt humør.

Efter godnatsang gik alle glade i seng.

I morgen venter den sidste dag på lejr. Der er mange børn der har specielle ønsker til ting de gerne vil nå på skibakkerne inden vi skal hjem.

Vi glæder os til at dele den sidste dag. Det er nogen herlige unger og vi nyder tiden med dem alle.

Thursday

Today we woke up and the day promised to be sunny!

Once again we had eggs, bacon and sausages for breakfast, as well as freshly baked rolls.

Then we went off skiing, and most of the children can now ski right across the resort without taking the bus. 

We had lunch outdoors at 12 and enjoyed the sun, and then set off again towards adventures on the ski slopes. 

By now all the children ski very, very well and can ski almost the whole mountain. 

As well as skiing well, they're also very good at helping one another, and it's so lovely to see.

When we got back home, we held a party outdoors with hot cocoa, hockey games, music and a bonfire. It was a lovely rest after the skiing.

Then there was a festive dinner with performances by adults and children. One of the children gave a truly moving speech about how the camp had been a place free from everyday life and a safe place in every way. It made a big impression on the whole team.

Then the disco opened with both Danish and Ukrainian music, cool dance moves and a great mood.

After singing goodnight, everyone went happily off to bed.

Tomorrow is the last day of camp. There are many children with special wishes about what they'd like to achieve on the ski slopes before we head home.

We're looking forward to sharing the last day. They're wonderful children, and we're enjoying our time with them all.

Thursday

Today we woke up to another day of bright sunshine and good spirits. Breakfast again today was eggs, bacon and sausages, plus freshly baked rolls.

Then we headed for the ski slopes, and most of us skied across the mountain.

We had lunch in bright sunshine, and then set off on adventures on the ski slopes again. By now all the children are really, really good on skis, and can ski almost across the whole mountain. As well as being good skiers they're also really good at helping one another, and it's so lovely to see.

When we got home we held a ski party outdoors, with hot cocoa, hockey games, music and a bonfire. Those were some lovely hours.

Then there was a festive dinner with speeches from both adults and children. One of the children gave a really moving speech about how the camp had been a refuge from everyday life and a safe place to be in every way. It made a big impression.

Then the disco opened with both Danish and Ukrainian music, cool dance moves and high spirits.

After the goodnight song everyone went happily to bed.

Tomorrow the last day of camp awaits. There are many children with special wishes for things they'd like to achieve on the ski slopes before we head home.

We're looking forward to sharing the last day. They're some wonderful kids and we're enjoying our time with them all.

Last day at the camp! After breakfast we all went skiing and everybody now went by skis to the other side of the mountain. We're happy to see that the children has become skilled skiers and are comfortable skiing long distances now.

After lunch we all skied together in the children's area until we took a short break to have hot chocolate with whipped cream AND marshmallows. Awesome!

Then we all - one big group of about 25 skiers - went across the mountain to the children's area near our cabin where we had started skiing this Monday. Skistar, that runs the resort, had setup a small skiing competetion and we were happy to participate and show our new skills. Every participant got a gold medal by Valle - the mascot of the ski resort.

Then we skied back to our cabin to pack our things and have dinner. After the dinner we met for the last 'aftenunderholdning' - evening entertainment - song a few songs and all children got a diploma for their successful participation in the camp. Igor, one of the Ukrainian children, improvised a speech and thanked all of the volunteers for their hard work. Thanks for the kind words, Igor, Then it was time to leave Bjønnstua - our home since Sunday evening - for the last time and get into the bus bound for Copenhagen.

We're grateful for having spent a wonderful week together with our 12 new Ukrainian friends. It has been rewarding to see how they have grown into confident skiers that experiment with the many aspects of skiing. We've emphasized that skiing is about keep trying - even when things are hard - and helping each other. We're very happy to see that these values have been internalized by the children who are very good at helping each other as well as other persons at the piste - and working together as a group.

Thanks to all the families that trusted us with their children. We're happy to return some tired but happy skiers who have had a great week in the Norwegian mountains.

Last day at the camp! After breakfast we all went skiing and everybody now made their way by skis to the other side of the mountain. We're happy to see that the children have become skilled skiers and are comfortable skiing long distances now.

Nu skal vi med bussen hjem, ja turen den er lang
Vi glæder os til næste år, og næste lejrsang

Then ferry, bridge, Ikea food, oh the journey was long
Quizzes and entertainment, leader Jakob sang so fine
Spirits were sky-high and the bus rolled along just great

2) The magic carpet lift was tested, everyone gave it their all
Anna just kept going, and Ihor's skis got stuck
The plate lift was tested, Inna was so good
Christian trod on poor Sascha's foot.

To the ring of the T-bar lifts and the stamp of the boots, we head out to ski For up the slope and down the slope is something we love
The camp leaders, kitchen, children and helpers are all in place
Because when we're at winter camp, we give it everything.

3) The Valle slope was tested, all the children were so good
Dina skied fast, and Vlad was very good too
Waffles with Nutella, that's what we love
Now we're off to bed, so the grown-ups can have their après-ski

4) Dina torpedoed a snowboarder, that was not good
Inna fought her way down the blue run, that was really fine
Skis got thrown off the lift, there was a lot of waiting
When Anders does his drills you have to sound like a fart.

5) A slalom run on the Valle slope, that was really wild
Everyone came away with a medal, it all went so smoothly
Now we're off home on the bus, yes the journey is long
We're looking forward to next year, and the next camp song

To the clatter of hooves and the stamp of boots we go skiing
Because up the slope and down the slope is what we love
The camp leaders, kitchen, children and helpers are all in place
Because when we're on winter holiday with Bevar Ukraine, there's got to be
full throttle.
